Installation Instructions and Troubleshooting Guide
The following information should be helpful when installing and troubleshooting your AV Mister products. If you need additional information please email service@acmister.com

Installation Instructions
AC Mister is connected to an available garden hose and uses available line pressure to move the required quantity of water to the desired location. The water is moved through a small but adequate supply tube. NOTE: A standard garden hose is not suitable for this use because the pressure required will destroy it.

A simple aluminum positioning device with an adhesive backing is included allowing our customers to install AC Mister in a few minutes without special tools or skills. The water supply line and mister head are secured to the bracket. The mister head can be rotated as required to direct the mist to the incoming air stream. The bracket centerpiece can be adjusted to further aid in directing the mist. The two outside legs of the bracket are bent up to more securely hold the supply tubing. Nylon tie wraps are also included in the kit for round or partially round units.

Step 1
Remove the contents of the box and check to make sure all parts are available.  A parts list is included with each package and will contain a list of the parts enclosed.  If any parts are missing, email service@acmister.com immediately to request the missing part.

Step 2
Familiarize yourself with the aluminum bracket (Figures 1 and 2) which is essential to the proper placement of the misting head for optimum cooling of the compressor.  The rear of the aluminum bracket has adhesive tape for applying to the compressor.

Step 3

Attach 3/4" hose connection to water faucet and unroll the 1/4" polyethylene tubing and lay out to air conditioner. Make sure the length is sufficient. If the length is not sufficient, email  service@acmister.com immediately for additional tubing.  Roll up any excess tubing and secure with twist ties.

Step 4
Insert nozzle adapter into hole in bracket (see Figures 3 and 4). Secure in place by screwing nozzle finger tight into threaded tee barb.  Do this for each bracket included in your kit (typically 2 or more brackets).

Step 5
Select a location on the condenser unit for each
bracket in your kit.  A good location is near the intake of the condenser.  This area has grills covering it or is a large area covered with a grill (See Figure 5).  Lay out system and adjust so that each condenser opening has at least one mister above it, center each one as much as practical.  After selecting the location, clean the area with a cleaner and allow it to thoroughly dry.  You may use a paper towel or dry cloth to dry the area.  It is very important to clean older painted surfaces.  After the area is clean and dry, remove the adhesive tape cover and press the bracket firmly to the condenser (see Figures 6 and 7).

Note: Most condenser units will normally have a metal surface suitable to attach the aluminum bracket, however, if they do not have enough surface for the adhesive on the brackets to be securely mounted, use the nylon tie wraps included in the kit to fasten the mister units.

Step 6
Nozzle adapter can be rotated in tubing to direct mist slightly away from air conditioner sides. T
he bracket tab can be bent to properly adjust nozzle. Mister nozzles set about a 30° angle away from side of air conditioner will provide best results (see Figure 8).

Step 7
Turn on the water at the faucet.  Verify that the misting units are working properly by inspecting the mister units.  The mister units require only a small amount of water.

Troubleshooting Guide

If you have a problem installing the unit because the brackets are not secure and are falling off then:

  • Make sure the area is clean and dry prior to applying bracket.
  • Some units have insufficient metal surface to hold the bracket with adhesive. In this case
    • Discard the brackets and attach the mister units with nylon tie straps (included)

If too much water is hitting the side of the compressor unit then:

  • Twist the adapters holding the misting heads within the 3/8” tubing and directing the mist away from the side of the compressor.
  •  If you are using the brackets bend the brackets up to help direct the water away from the compressor sides.

If the unit supplied does not fit my air conditioner then:

  • The air conditioner will benefit from the misters which are directed into the incoming air stream. If you have a condition where an open mister is not spraying into an incoming air stream, turn off the water supply and remove the brass mister from the adapter unit. Allow brass mister to dry completely. Put one drop of super glue inside the brass mister and let cure over night. Place the brass mister back into the adapter unit and finger tighten it. Turn on water and make sure the mister does not leak.

I need additional units for other air conditioners.

  • Complete units can be ordered and a two-way valve is available as optional equipment to provide an additional faucet. If ordered at the same time, the two-way valve can be added to your order.
  • Another unit can be added to one you have already installed. This can be done in two ways: 1) a 1/4" tee can be added to the line at any point you desire; 2) an inline addition can be connected to the end of your installed unit. Instructions are available with these new units.
  • There is plenty of water available to use the currently installed 1/8" line to provide water to one or two additional air conditioner compressors.
