Our Story
In 1967, after adding 600 square feet to our house, we found our 3-ton
air conditioner would no longer adequately cool our home with the increased
area. I was faced with the expense of buying a new air conditioner right
after the expense of our addition. My next thought was that maybe the
compressor just needed some assistance on those hot days. With an adjustable
nozzle attached to my garden hose, I directed a fine spray toward the
compressor. Immediately, we had adequate cooling for the entire house.
Several years later, when our original compressor failed, we replaced it
with a 4-ton unit, which was the suitable unit. Even though this was the
suitable size for our house, I continued to use a fine spray on this
compressor for over 20 years. I literally saved thousands of dollars in
reduced electrical costs and we enjoyed the comfort of a cool house.
When our 35-year-old central heating/evaporator unit had to be replaced, we
did so with a high efficiency 4-ton system. At about this same time, stand
alone mister units became available, advertised to cool patios and other
areas. This appeared to be a good idea, so I attached a mister to a garden
hose and discovered that even a high-quality garden hose could not withstand
the pressure of a normal city water system, so I experimented. In order to
continue to use the more efficient spray misters, I found that I had to use
a delivery line of 1/4-inch polyethylene tubing to successfully deliver the
required pressure to the mister.
For years, I have wondered why a simple, inexpensive spray system had not
been introduced to the market. AC Mister has been developed to fill this
